Babson Boulders
While exploring the Cape Ann, MA area, a destination on our list was Dogtown Commons, long on the agenda for adding to my boulder photographs. Eccentric millionaire Roger Babson had an unusual hobby: During the Great Depression, he hired unemployed stonecutters to carve inspirational mottoes into boulders in Dogtown, a ghost town between Gloucester and Rockport, Massachsetts, now a public land preserve.
